Dr. Michelle Kennedy Maak’s practice is focused on oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) with specific surgical expertise in complex tooth extraction including wisdom teeth and cosmetic facial interventions. Dr. Maak is a Utah native, and obtained her undergraduate degree from Carroll College in Montana. She continued her dental school training at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio. Her specialty training in oral and maxillofacial surgery occurred at Brookdale University Hospital and Jacobi Medical Center in New York, where she stayed as an Assistant Professor and Assistant Director of the OMFS residency program. She also served as a surgical attending for 3 years at the Brookdale University Level 1 trauma center.
Although Dr. Maak enjoyed her teaching position and the complexity of the oral surgeries she performed in New York, she ultimately desired to pursue her interest in cosmetic and facial surgery and return to her home state of Utah. For this reason, she returned to Utah to obtain fellowship specialty training at the Institute of Facial and Cosmetic Surgery. She continues to remain interested in education and advancing her field to improve the care of her patients. To this end, she has published academically in the prestigious Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Maak’s diverse experience and training has provided her with a unique ability to deliver specialty care in to a variety of oral and facial including complex tooth extractions including wisdom teeth, cosmetic deformities, and facial cosmetics including Botox and Restalin, among others. She is a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Additionally, she currently serves as member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Maak is proud to be working next to David Prince, a friend and colleague from Case Dental School. She is extremely happy to back home in Utah. She loves fly-fishing, hiking, skiing, and spending time with her family.
